About me and my art...

When I was about 5 years old my Granny and I were on holiday in Crimea, on the Black Sea.

My Granny said to me that if I will behave I will be sinless and will be able to walk on the sea – like Jesus.

I tried very hard, and checked up every day – “am I good enough to walk on the water?”  But nothing happened so I started to draw myself walking on the sea.  From that time on I realised that it’s magic when you can draw or paint whatever you can see, or imagine.

I think I was incredibly lucky to study art in the art college for 5 years, and then spend a further 6 years in the Art Academy in Kiev. As a result I can do mosaics; stained glass; murals; tapestries; fashion design; but most of my art is painting.

which is my favourite technique....

'the technique I use at that time’.  All media are my friends, but I cannot do the same thing all the time.  I am always looking for a new challenge and to explore new styles combining the media of different materials – even to never pass a skip without my attention!  It’s not only an adventurous – it helps you discover new ways for your work.  It depends on the subject to decide which ‘language’ I will use to express my feelings.

Women’s beautiful body shape and unpredictable nature attract me a lot; but when I see a sunset, or beautiful architecture I think that it can make a magic picture.

Abstract can open secrets of your mind – not only feelings.  Any subject can be magical if you are a magician!

my influences....

Lucian Freud put himself the question “What do I ask of a painting?'' and answered, ''I ask it to astonish, disturb, seduce, convince.''  I like that – my painting is my day; my night – my thoughts; my fantasy.

Sometimes I find solution for my paintings in my dreams – I like night time, it’s quiet and when you see visions of your future painting with your eyes closed.  Then you can start your painting, or project in reality.

why buy....

People buy paintings for different reasons: they like them or collect them – or both.  Or they may have other reasons.  But in my case it’s different – my paintings choose fantastic people who buy or order a commission.

Sometimes people come to my studio to buy my work.

Unfortunately I am selfish and prefer to paint than organise a show myself.  I thank my friends who help me with my shows every time.  But I promise to change.  It will be real magic if I can arrange my own show!

You are very welcome to visit my studio

ps I have lived in England since 1994, but my work ‘lives’ in different countries all over the world.
